Default clutch squeeking prior to engagement-anyone know why?

94 gsr tranny, act 4 puck clutch (not sure tho, dont ask , haha)

anyways, when i drive, the clutch, or whatever it may be, makes a squeeking noise, and slips PRIOR to engaging gear. its like the clutch isng grabbing the gear. da, sounds like i need a new clutch huh. however, most stories i heard of peoples' clutches, the clutch seems to slip while in gear at high rpms, mine NEVER does that. anyone have any insights,

thanks a bunch

how about the spring on the pedal? spray it with some lithium grease wd-40 might work but not for very long.

ya man, the sound is horrible huh, and the worse thing about when the sound happens is that the clutch doesnt grab the gear, so once, in a long while, the car would make the sound and u would be there for a second or two without moving, thats in 1st gear of course

not to be a dumb *** but i just checked the box and it says for offroad use only. not recommended for street use. could it be that since it is a 4 puck strip clutch that it is just not engaging properly cause it isnt getting abused like it would at the strip...hmm just a thought but if anyone knows how to make this go away i would be happy. otherwise im thinking about putting my centerforce stage 3 back in.

Could also be the throw out bearing need to be lubed on the shaft.

4 puck clutch discs are prone to making chirp or squeek. The problem seems to be more prevelant with cars using the stock pressure plate.

act clutch seem to do that, everyone i know with act does it, its actually the clutch grippin that makes that noise not slipping, it sounds like the clutch is screamin at you, its not really a good sound but its nottin to worry about
