Launching type R?
When I attempted to drop clutch launch my r, i experienced something very strange. The wheels chirped for a very very short second. then all of a sudden the car went slow even though i was flooring it. it felt like my car was being disabled. is this the LSD? what can i do to get around this? launch at higher rpm?
I launch at about 4500rpm's, but I don't drop the clutch. I feather the clutch to prevent the tires from spinning to much and to prevent the engine from bogging down. This way seems to work for me. Maybe you should try this way out and see if it works for you.
what Rpm did u launch it at....if u gunned it and it felt slower, ur tires may have been slipping...
i launch @ 3-3.5k with an R lsd ...... and re010's
it slips for a bit then catches on.....if it's burning out, dont gun it--it'll make it spin more
jus let go of the gas for a sec then punch it again

how does the lsd help you out while launching? does it compensate for the fact that one wheel will get more power than the other due to the layout of the engine (transverse layout)? i thought the lsd only helps through turns...

thanks guys, slipping the clutch worked, but after a while i could smell the clutch. I know this way is not very good for your clutch so is there any alternative?
Dunno about "feathering" the clutch.....slipping off it...gradually...ie, always keep it within the contact position...and feather the gas pedal accordingly....

Launching a manual is more "tacticle" than technical, ie the timing for clutch engagement is what you need to concentrate on, not specifics on RPM. Slipping the clutch will just burn it up. Let the clutch engage as smoothly as possible, use the throtle to control the power.
