Default stock exhaust leaking

my ls has the stock exhaust still ..theres seems to be an exhaust leak right at the begining of the resonator...is there a problem with me just removing the resonator on the stock exhaust...till money comes around for a new exhaust..im sure the leak can be fixed with a lil welding but what about cutting the resonator out and welding a piece of pipe....thanks for comments..

I think it would be cheaper to just weld the leak rather than cut out the resonator and weld a straight pipe there.

If it isnt too bad i'd just jb weld it shut or just live with it till you have the money for an aftermarket exhaust.

Without the resonator it'll definitely be louder. The muffler works with the resonator in order to cancell out sound wave pulses. Though, it may flow better.

try some exhaust wrap or get it patched till you can afford an exhaust. DO NOT remove your resonator

the exhaust wrap wont work..its leaking from the resonator welds...but i dont want to fix the resonator i want to remove it..yes i know it will be a lil louder but are there any loses from me removing it...

Deff no loses from removing the resonator. if anything, you will get gains.

the reason why i said leave the resonator on is because it will sound like garbage with out.

ok its done...removed the resonator but also had to put new piping from the cat to the muffler...**** was all rusted i didnt even want to bother putting that pipe in but from the looks of the rust there was no tellng how long it was gonna hold up...40 bucks though wasnt bad...

sounds the same as before nothing different till up past 5k rpm then it starts to buzz...its not bad though its livable with for now...as far as flow...butt dyno said it pulling like it should...
