Only fits jdm front end. I'm wondering what exactly it's purpose is. metal plate that connects onto radiator support and goes behind the grill in between the headlights.

Yes, it is quite functional
it directs air flow toward the radiator, preventing air flow from spilling and escaping through all the existing holes, openings, etc.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Wow, what kind of strut bar is that?? nice design, one of the better one's i've seen.

looks like a carbing bar, but i thought they were white (unless it's painted)
my benen bar is also a similar 3 point bar on the firewall too, i love it

It is Rigid, same as Carbing, both made by same manufacturer, except the Rigid is steel and yellow

It does serve a purpose, but for the price i'll pass.
Do it the REALTIME way; make your own.

ROFL...
Well, first of all, somebody's going to have to convince me that I need something like that.
Even on the track in August in Virginia, my coolant gauge is well below the centre mark.

C'mon George, you can't beat the do it yourself bling

Well, I'm not sure about that. Look at where the large tube is welded to the side plates. The webbing in the front doesn't even come up to the same level as the tubing so I can see it flexing a bit.

Not to mention it's not SCCA legal.

the cooling plates are very popular in japan. i've seen them in CF in pictures of many, many r32, r33 and r34 skylines. then again, those are turbo cars and probably generate more heat under the hood.

Also I do not know of anyone with an ITR who has cooling problems on the track.
Not a single one.

i have that strut bar, but the Carbing aluminum version (super light!).
i've taken it off a couple times and there is no sign of the side plates bending or anything.
also, i have used this strut bar in an SCCA autox.. i have been told that if i unscrew the 2 bolts that go into the firewall..then it's just as legal as any other strut bar since i'm not using the firewall.

I know of several ITRs which do have cooling problems, both race cars and street cars. Every car is different

Interesting. Please expand.
What problems do these cars have?
How would there be a variation between cars? This does not seem quite the same as tuning cars, it is just a matter of cooling heated water.
