Why you shouldn't autox with $6 in quarters, nickels, and dimes in your change tray *VIDEO*
So I showed up at the local autox yesterday and proceeded to get my car ready as usual. Took out the spare tire, jack, floormats, and my window shade. There is nothing else in my car and the glovebox is practially empty so I left it as is. Next I checked my change tray, which I usually empty out every so often on the vending machines at work. Apparently I haven't been very thirsty the last couple weeks because there was a shitload of change ($6.73 in various denominations). That's a lot of change to move so I just left it in there and figured it would be okay.
Everything was good until the last run of the day, when I hit this little bump on course at full throttle in 2nd gear and the change tray popped open.
The fuse cover fell off too. So...I spent half of my warm up lap and all of my timed lap trying to avoid the coins and fuse box cover underneath my feet. Some of it even jumped onto the passenger's side floorboard. Plus it made a bunch of noise since my car is gutted and the floormats were out. I still managed to get my second fastest time of the day though.
Luckily I caught the incident on tape...it won't be happing again since next time I'll just pile my change on the ground.

You get warm-up laps? What kind-of autocrossing do they do up there in Kansas?

Yeah...we don't get warmup laps even here in the cornfields of Nebraska.
I know I could use it to warm up the RA-1's to try and beat that damn 400+ hp Supra in Street Mod with me.

LOL, don't look at me...it's a local car club. Most of the main members daily drive R-compound tires (on a TT RX-7, TT Supra, etc.) or trailer their built-for-autox cars with slicks. They are also overly competitive...so of course there are warm up laps because they like to have an advantage over poor saps like me on street tires and stock suspension. And no I'm not bitter.
P.S., I'm in CA not KS.

Yea, mine does the same thing. I tried to tape in it for the last autocross but it didn't work too well. I haven't had it completely fall out but almost.

Chris informed me that the bandwidth limit has been exceeded...shitty considering there never used to be any bandwidth limitations on AOL.
Try again tomorrow I guess.

Yep...we have warm up laps for the older guys with slicks...but none of them showed up for this event
I designed this funky course...I believe that one of the next courses will not have a warm up lap, and it will be run with 3 straight laps for an "enduro" autcross...
