Default misplaced resonator

i'm trying to do adjust my air intake to that of the type r's by apparently bypassing the resonator box. unfortunately i haven't been able to find it! the following are the instructions i lifted from http://integra.vtec.net.

//
There is a pipe that leads from the stock air box to the resonator box. This pipe has to be removed from the resonator box, which requires opening up the resonator box. After removing the pipe which resembles a "J", connect it to the stock air box. There is a rubber gasket at the top of this tube, which will keep the connection air tight. Now leave the resonator box out and close the splash guard. What you have now is a factory system that draws in cool air.
//

While i did find the stock air box (duh!) their J shaped pipe that seems to lead from the box along the front fender to what i think is the throttle body (maybe not?), then there is a small "box" on the tube that leads to the air box that resembles a J, I asked my mechanic who is not an import specialist and he said that was probably it. however the instructions dont seem to apply to a box that leads out of a tube. anyway, i was considering that the resonator might BE that box in the LS/RS models (because thats what i own) but i am not sure. help is appreciated.

The resonator box is in the fender well. It's not visible when looking under the hood. You have to peel back the fenderwell liner or remove the front bumper have better access to the resonator box. And if your going to remove the tube from the resonator box, cut the box so that the back side of the box is still intact. That way you can use the bolts to keep it still secured to the car even without the box. That's the way mine is setup.

the view? whats that?

ok, i finally got the fender off and found where the resonator box is situated. i decided to remove the white piece of tubing that lead to the abs. the sound seems improved and i'm assuming there was a small drop in temperature, but i still haven't figured out how to bypass the resonator. mainly my problem was gaining acces to the back (left side) of the box itself. still wondering how i can ditch that box. help appreciated.

The easiest way is to remove the front bumper. Then there are 3 bolts.

Just remove the whole box there is three bolts i believe, take off your passenger wheel then remove the black fender cover and u can see it jack up the front end and put a safety jack to hold it when your head is under neither. I did this mod on my 96 LS and loved it took me about a hour and a half by myself that involved using a dremel to cut away the fog light hole like he did to mount hose too. but with the plastic fender liner removed and had to take off a few of the bolts holding front under splashguard if i remember right just look u will see what u have to remove to get to the whole air box. I then wiggled and i mean wiggled it out with out removing the fender or front bumper then installed the hose. By the way use plastic piping don;t use the Metalic looking dryer hose it will eventually flake off and get stuck all over your filter. http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/cold_air.html This is the instructions i used to do it. hope this helps
Email me if u have any other questions
