Default ITR flywheel question

I am about to get my clutch changed and I was thinking about just geting my gsr flywheel resurfaced but i am getting a deal for a type R flywheel with 32k miles on it for 75 bucks..Is a type R flywheel noticebly different then a gsr flyhwheel and is it worth it or not?I would get a aftermarket flywheel but dont have funds.. thanks

For $75 ,it's definitely worth it. You can tell right away that it
revs faster. You may want to have it re-surfaced
to have a problem free experience, especially with a new clutch.

I would put the money towards lightening and balancing your factory flywheel to 12lbs, if you have a reputable shop in town. I did this and my only complaint is that it is not light enough. I doubt you will feel the 3 lbs between the GSR and the TypeR flywheels.

Not a bad suggestion but that being said 12 lbs is about as light as I would consider safe on a stock GSR flywheel.

If you keep your one get it resurfaced and lightened, mines down to 6.5 KG's and i haven't had any problems.
if you get the ITR, may as well get it resurfaced since it's on 32K miles

Sorry to hijack your thread, but along the same topic, how light can I safely have my ITR flywheel lightened to?

12 lbs? 10 lbs even?

Thanks,
Adam

to correct you on a matter of weight as i recall the itr flywheel is 14lbs ....gsr is 18lbs making it a 4lbs difference....itr work great if you plan on boosting, to light a flywheel will actaully hurt you by letting the revs fall out of range to keep the turbo spool...as a general rule of thumb 12-14lbs is a good flyheel wieght for turbod cars, for n/a usually lighter it is the better just got way to light and youll runinto drivability issues

Sorry but I have to further correct you. THe GSR is 17 lbs and the Type-R is indeed 15 lbs. Both give a few ounces. I have weighed multiple flywheels of each on a UPS scale and neither came up as heavy or as light as you stated.
