CEL Question For A friend.
My Friends 94 4-door Integra has a CEL on. I'm not familiar with the process of checking the code. I've tried the search, but didn't find anything helpful. If anybody here could post how to read the codes without bringing it to a dealer, that would be great.
I would, but there is no better place to ask an ACURA related question than a HONDA/ACURA board. Can anybody who actually wants to answer a question reply to my original post please?
There's a 2-wire plug tucked up in the passenger's kick-panel next to the glovebox. Search back in this board, there's lots of threads about it. Try searching for 'service connector', too. Jumper it with a paper-clip, then turn on the ignition. The CEL blinks; long=10, short=1, longer pause means an additional code is starting.
Okay, I did what I had to do. The engine icon remained on, while the "Service Required" light blinked one long, and ten short.

That doesn't make sense. First, it's the check-engine light that blinks, not the service required light.
Besides, I don't get the 10 short blinks. Ten short=10 that would be would be indicated by another long blink.
But wait - you're not in USA. This stuff might be different, I'm not really sure.

I'm not completly familiar with integras, but my only guess is that his tire pressure is low and sending out a service required light. The engine light never came on like I thought he was saying.........i'm only going by what he told me, either way, i'm gonna top up his squishy tires tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the help though.
OK - starting to make more sense...
There aren't any tire-pressure sensors in my Integra, I don't think they put them in Europe either.
The 'service required' light comes on with a mileage counter. There's no functional check. It's just a reminder that it's time for an oil change.
Reset this light with a button you'll find hidden under the dash near the driver's right knee. The button faces towards the gas pedal, you can feel it just under the dash alongside the console. Press & hold this button while the service light is blinking, until it goes out.
The check-engine light comes on if the ECU sees something wrong. I'm gonna guess that your friend only had the service-required light, not the check-engine light.
