Default AC removal, quick gas/venting question

so i went to put the ac belt back on today and couldn't figure out how to tighten it, then i realized that i must be missing a piece needed to tighten it, so instead of buying a new piece i am just going to take it out all together. my question is my manual says that its filled with 134a "enviormentally safe" gas, so can i just vent it out on my own or do i still need to get it done at a dealership or something?

legally, u need a shop to do it.

but with me, when i remove my ac lines, i jus unbolted a line, sat back, and watched the green gas polute the earth. took like a full 5 mins for all the gas to vent out.

ya i guess its more of a moral question than anything. i was just trying to ease my conscience if i did do it myself as it says my gas is "enviormentally friendly" so technically if i vent it into the air it shouldn't do any harm, right??
