good question, i have no idea, it kindda looks like a tie bar. it does kindda look like i could be a trunk bar too. hmmm..... it could be anythin
if you look really closely on the fram ejust under the intake manifold, you'll see a black tie bar. all the strong bar does is replace this. sure, it might be stronger, but unless you actually road race, i dont think you should replace it.
it does have some bling factor though if you're into that.

i thought that was the X Member Bar? ..and if you look at what is says for "Strong Bar" it says "strengthen the rear"...? i know in my friends Audi A4 his X Member bar goes in that spot you talkin about..under where our IM would be.......i guess itll go in the similar location ...but if that "strong bar" is a trunk bar then im getting one!

well i suppose it stiffens it up enough for Honda to put it on their production ITR's..thats a J's Racing one in the red trunk, its made for Integra's (non-Type-R) and Civic's...
Thanks for your reply's everyone

im pretty sure that the strong bar does go in the trunk but not in the itr spot. it goes on the floor of the trunk in a bolt thats already there. im pretty sure anyway but right in front of the R bar.
and yeah the crossmember brace goes in front of the PS rack and theres already one there on r, gsr, and gs models.

the strong bar is made to replace the rear bumper support behind the bumper cover. supposedly able to shave 30 pounds this way, but more like 7-10. there are pictures above of the strongbar installed. As far the xmember brace, that goes up by the firewall behind the enginer for chassis support. I can get you a picture of it installed, but you can't really see those things once their in. if your into the bling that isn't your piece, it is actually functioning instead of cosmetic
how does the strong bar have anything to do with the bumper support? it bolts into the exsisting bolts in the trunk... theres nothing there except a spare tire cover

The strong bar was designed to maintain the rear end stiffness when you
removed your rear bumper support (34lbs.) to lighten you cars weight. (road
racing) Although we found that it helped stiffen the chassis just the same with
your bumper support in place. Either way its a great product and you have the
option on the weight factor. It bolts on to the factory rear bumper support
holes on the trunk floor. I hope this helps!
p.s. We were the first besides the Japanese OEM Type R to design the strong bar.

how did i get owned? i was correct as to where it bolts but i had no idea that the holes it bolts to go to the rear bumper support. that is why i asked: "how does the strong bar have anything to do with the bumper support?"
i didnt realize that the rear bumper support mounts there thats why i asked the question.

i'm just messing with you man, it is hard to tell whether or not people are being sarcastic (which i thought u were) or asking question when you dont hear their voice and only see words typed =P but yes the 4 bolts are for the rear bumper support behind the rear bumper cover and i just got my benen strong bar in today so we will see if that rear bumper support really ways 34lbs. this weekend when I go to take it off and put the strongbar in
oh btw its really nice quality. we will see how fitment goes.

To Benen for mass producing a trunk floor brace. (Besides EM Racing, they're the only company to make these braces)
For them putting so many blingy holes in the bar and comprising its strength (cough....DC sports....cough)One more thing.....are they sure the JDM Type-R has a trunk floor brace as original equiqment? I've heard of the CTR having a trunk floor brace like this (but thats never been confirmed).
Another more affordable option for those of you that want something like the Benen piece but don't want to shell the 170 bucks, is the diy trunk floor brace how-to on Team-Integra.net Costs about $20 and takes about an hour or two to make and install.
