Default Why do I not want a Front Sway Bar?

I've been told that I shouldn't get a front sway bar for my EK Hatch, but what are the disadvantages of having a front sway bar? And do they out-weigh the advantages of getting one?

front sway bars... = better handling in turns, but also means a **** load of weight.. Im not sure how uch they weigh exactly, but when i picked an oem one up, weighed around 30 pds. weight makes u go slower..

they dont weigh 30lbs man.... thats a lot! geez. the disadvantages of a front way bar would be w/o LSD, as u corner, the inner tire will spin a lot.... this is what i have read on here.... and it makes sense.....

The advantages of having a front swaybar is that there is going to be less roll when your turning but it will cause more understeer. EK hatches already understeer. If you put in a front bar alone, it will cause more understeer.

I wouldn't recommend just getting just a front bar. If you want a set of swaybars for your EK, get both front and rear. With a proper front/rear swaybar setup, you can make your hatch much more balanced.

a lot of people have told me that in a track [roadcourse] environment, they prefer no front sway, with a large rear sway. this makes your turn in very quick, but also introduces more oversteer. it all depends on your driving style and what you like the car to do.....

I disconneted the front sway bar(26mm) on my ek hatch and left my rear 22mm bar connected. The car drove like crap. Steering response was horrible and slow.

Did I have more steering? I would say ultimately yes, but it was the result of oversteer and it wasn't very consistant.

Best way to go is with both front and rears, IMHO. Choose them carefully and you will have a setup that's better than just foregoing the front sway.

I was looking into a comptech rear sway/tie bar set, but do they make front sway bars. I've heard great things about their rear sway bars, but haven't seen a fornt sway bar from them. If I don't like it, I'll just sell it on ebay or something. Or how about, progressive? Thanks

Who ever told you that is a moron.

Get a front sway. I would not drive w/o one.

I'm pretty quick without a front bar, and with a 22mm rear bar.

And Hoosier slicks.

LOL, the steering rack/ratio has nothing to do with understeer.
