"Mugen Style" front strut bars
Whats the deal with with these Mugen Style strut bars? I know they are not genuine Mugen, but do they offer the same performance as real Mugens?
Also, I've seen two different mount types, one is just rectangular with two bolts, and others are round shaped..

from what i have seen they are hinged (don't have a solid mount) and you can tell if it is fake on most of them by looking at the front logo.
There was debate once on the hinged mount. and people were saying that it doesn't matter if it hinged and that the strut bar actually moves horizontally. They gave some bmw website that explained why but i wasn't really following the thread so im not sure. but it does look pretty beefy like the mugen one but im not too sure on how it will perform.

Unfortunately the Carbing (3-Point Bar) won't fit '94-96 Integras without changing out the brake booster and brake master cylinder to the '97+ versions. That is what I am having to do.

You get what you pay for

Agreed. Just get a Neuspeed or something. Cheap and effective.

I would like to know the answer to this too. anyone that acutally has it that can comment on it and not just personal opinions? just because it's not a overpriced mugen bar doesn't mean it doesn't perform. I think it's looks beefy and solid but I have my doubts...
Considering theres no real way to make a completly accurate guess on whats better? This is a pointless topic. If skunk2nr likes his 'mugen' bar and he thinks it handles better.. Than more power to him. In fact..i am with him! it looks like it has less flex points than the ITR...
I just like my BENEN.....hehe

yeah it will hit the hood too when you close it.

There are some things that cost a lot of money for no good reason... aka $30 reservoir covers and stupid crap like that... but, there are other jdm parts that cost more because more thought and research went into the design, making it more functional.
IMO, it is worthless to buy some piece of slag metal that a guy welded in his garage and put it on your car. Large companies have computer design programs making it possible for them to take into account variables such as vehicle chassis stress and other important factors that most of us never even understand.
The above stated is IMHO only... please feel free to go think for yourselves.

I agree with this, but I view a upper strut bar as a rather simple peice... it's boils down to just a simple bar that ties your struts together, kinda hard to screw that up. and if they copied Mugens design, hopefully it can live up to it too.
still curious about it's performance from people that own it.
too

To all the people knocking this bar...You probably never ever feel any of them to begin with, not to mention 90% of you don't ever put them to use anyway.
just get a neuspeed bar, they are very cheap, and visually they look like they would perform very well.......by connecting the upper control arms.
when i added mine i felt that the front of the car felt a bit more stable in hard turns, but that could just be in my head.
falls in that 90%
that black version can be had for about 80-90 shipped

Alright let's put it this way. I have a long daily commute, 12 miles of which are on very twisty, almost vacant backroads. I had never had a strut bar until I bought a fugen bar for my dc, and since I've never had any other bars on I can't comment on other bar's performance, but I regularly take 25mph and 30mph corners at double the recommended speeds, and I can CERTAINLY feel the difference. This bar is substancial in manufacture, it just has no pedegree. So anyone wondering if someone that pushes their car can comment on its effectiveness....yes, it is effective. Once I put on my ITR rear sway I'm hoping for an even bigger difference.
i have the mugen style front strut, here my input on it, i used 4 different struts.
1. i used the oem gsr/si strut bar it works okay
2. i used a 15 cheap strut that grabs from the mounts.
3. oem type r strut works very good.
4. mugen style 8 point..and i can honestly say the mugen style work prettty similar like the oem itr, but better at least in the canyons. my car responded well to it.
someone said that the mugen style hits on the hood, i think u put it on wrong. mine fits perfectly. i think that the real mugen might work better, but for 40 bucks its a very good strut. i didn't buy it because it was 40 bucks but because of the 8 points. i wanna try out the neuspeed and the benen or carbing next. if your on a budget i think its your best bang for your buck, if you like brands get the neuspeed.

that would be my choice if I didn't already have a neuspeed strut bar in my car.
