Body Kit: Urethane vs. Fiberglass
I've noticed that the extreme body kit is fairly popular amongst the readers\posters of this forums. I was wondering if most people got it in Urethane or fiberglass..and how crucial it is one way or the other ?
For a daily use car, Id recommend urethane bumpers.
The earlier poster makes some good points. however, there are other factors to be aware of. Bumper repair is a moot point given the severity of repair required. If you have a severe impact, the bumpers will need to be replaced, period. In a minor impact, the fiberglass will crack and shatter. The urethane bumper may crease or bend. Both are repairable but require different methods of repair.
Urethane isnt stronger as it is more resiliant and durable.
Generally for low lying bumpers, flex is normally added as it takes abuse from the road. For this aspect, using Urethane or Fiberglass should not be any different. This should be a measure of the quality of work of your autobody shop.
good luck

heres some things to ponder
fiberglass
cheaper, lighter, cheaper to paint, easy to fix
if the kit doesnt fit right you can modify glass really easy and really cheap
ureathane,
stronger, most expensive, heavier, if it doesnt fit when you buy it have fun making it fit
costs more to paint because you have to add flex agents to the paint
yea it might not break but if you hit it hard enough you are going to mess up paint regardless.. hello to spider webs
its really all about what you want..</TD></TR></TABLE>
