Body kit construction
Hey all! I was wonderin if anyone out there has ever made their own body kit or bumpers or anything like that and if so howd you go about doin it? Ive tough about getting some of that expanding foam and just shaving it down to get the shape then fiberglassing over it, but I dont really know. Just curious to see if anybody out there has ever gone about doin this! Thanks!

Re: Body kit construction
Well, I kind of have, but not one hundred percent. After a bunch of searching, I couldn't find a body kit that I liked. But I did see a body kit for the RSX/DC5 that I really liked. So I just bought the DC5 front bumper and side skirts and cut and fiberglassed it to fit. And yes it was extremely difficult, I don't think I'll ever do anything like that again. (I like paint and body, but it's not my favorite thing.)
Anyways, I fiberglassed the bottom half of the DC5 bumper to the top half of a civic fiberglass bumper...
If you're going to go the foam route, then get "AB foam" which is made specifically for applications like this, not like the foam door sealer stuff...
Tapplastics.com has a good AB foam.
good luck.
There are plenty of people out there that have fiberglassed full kits from scratch, so it's definitely possible.
Check out the apline/imprint demo car, it's crazy. This is how I got the idea to fabricate the middle portion of my bumper:
