Default For those with the RS door handles:

Has anyone who had the RS door handles on their R had the car ever broken into/stollen? Just wondering, maybe most of the integras theft is due to our stock door handle?

Someone enlighten me on the RS door handles. Whats the deal with them? What is better about them compared to the stock handles?

The RS door handles don't have the small silver up/down - "lock/unlock" tab. I hear many theives break into integras by squeezing something in the window (ie. hanger) and pull the tab to unlock the door.

BTW, check out our Honda-Tech handles/R#'s. Two 5's are better than one lol, j/k.

Nope. Never broken into or stolen with the RS Handles. But then again, when I didn't have the RS handles, there were no attempts to break in or to steal it.

arren123 - What is the general parking area for your R? Has is survived parking at the mall/movies/large parking lots/etc.? Also you live in a high theft area like clifton, jersey city, newark....or do you live in the suburbs of NJ? It could be a factor as to why nobody has attempted.

I only ask since I live in NJ too with my R.

I had my R in NJ for about two years, no problems...when I was in college, i was in the TRENTON area w/ no problems. I had garage space when at home in Toms River, no problems there, but it is a good town. Trenton on the other hand....

As far as malls, etc...I wouldn't even take my car there...that's what my beater is for. (for those without one, don't subject your car to the possibility in mall parking lots)

I live in Southern NJ 10 minutes away from Philly. I never parked my car at movies, but I did park my car at malls, shopping center, a Wilmington city garage, regular parking lots, and the worst place was Germantown Ave in Philly.

I'd never park my car or drive my car to Jersey City, or NYC..

The RS handles are not the key to protecting your car, it's just another little link in a chain of defense mechanisms to get a theif to ignore your pain-in-the-*** car and go for an easier target. They also look pretty sweet. But I seriously doubt someone who is dead set on stealing a type R is going to let that deter them. But again, every little bit helps....

There's a way thieves can unlock the doors by drilling a hole in a specific area of the door. I won't say how it's done but it happened to a friend's GS-R and his interior was stripped.
