long = CAI
short = short ram

cai does its name, brings in cold air from out out the engine bay generally uses a smaller sized pipe than the short rams in comparison i think short rams when the engine bay/ outside air is cooler make a lil more power in the lower rpms.

my opinion just get a short/CAI from ebay, either way wont really matter unless you do heavy tunning.

yes a short ram pulls hot air from the engine bay. you will gain a few extra horses from a short ram.

but a cold air will give you more power the cooler the air going into your motor the more horsepower you can make

The only reason I worry about CAI is b/c of hydro-lock. When it rains here it rains and there are puddles everywhere. You hit one deep enough to get water in the filter and say good bye to your engine. I have a short ram and have done a battery relocation, so I have a little bit more cooler air coming in since the short ram comes more towards the front of the engine bay. If your not worried about hydro-lock go with a CAI.

One ghetto way to do it would be to get a short ram and go to home depot, buy some 3" dryer ducting (the smooth kind, not the rippled junk). Attatch the dryer ducting to the filter and route it to a cooler spot. Then you could remove the cold air extension if you need to.

It's worked fine for over a year and a half now. And I think I saw them on groupbuycenter.com for like $80 something.
