Need help, will not start...maybe fuel pump...what do you think?
Hey peeps...
This one has got me stumped....
Car: 91 CRX Si w/110k on the odo
Mods: None...completely stock
Problem:
I drove the car and came home and parked it...next day it would not start...Engine Light stays on, the car cranks, has spark but will not start.
So after checking H-T archives found that main relay may cause problems with start cuz it turns fuel pump on...checked main relay it was not clicking....then more research i found that ECU was not getting power...found fix PER H-T it was to check the alternator fuse...checked it...it was bad...replaced it..now the ECU comes on, the main relay clicks, and engine light comes on and then cuts off after 2 secs...so all that is normal....
Now the stump...no fuel to the fuel rail. How i know, I disconnected the fuel line coming to the fuel rail and nothing....no fuel. (BTW, yes tank is full) So i thought maybe a clogged fuel filter, so i disconnected the incoming line to the fuel filter...turned the car on and no fuel still. Then i did something stupid...siphoned the incoming line by mouth to see if there was any fuel in the line....bingo.....fuel in my m'f'n mouth!! Anyways..it seems like the line is clear from the tank to the firewall...
i'm thinking it is a fuel pump but can't understand that it worked fine one day and craps out the next. but ish happens i guess....before i remove the tank to replace the pump i wanted your guys' opininon
So for all the techs and brains on this forum...
1. Why did my alternator fuse blow?
2. Is there anything else i need to look at before i drop the tank and change the pump?
3. If it all points to a fuel pump..what do you think should I do, replace it with an upgraded pump for future B16 swap in the works?
Thanks in advance for all your help and any insight you guys can provide.....
Take care

dood re check the main relay :-) just be safe and resolder it.. because i think it turns on the fuel pump AND has something to do with injectors?? not totally sure but don't count it out too easily.. i've had it happen to 2/3 of my rex's :-)

I had this same problem with my 4th gen accord. I never figured what it was, but it would only do it when it was hot outside.
I would wait until around dusk and the car would start up fine.
try that.
Also make sure that your fuel pump has power, check it with a multimeter right by the tank.

having the same exact problem right now, I'll check for power to the fuel pump tonight. I replaced the main relay, but no luck. i can hear the thing click, but cant hear the pump pressurize. that pic is what ive been looking for
yeah do the fuel pump jumper wire on the main relay harness. If there is no humming then chances are it's a bad fuel pump.
BTW I had a main relay that would click fine but it would not work til i soldered the contacts. Just to let you know that if it's clicking doesnt always mean it's working completely.
