USDM RSX-R (DC5R)/Civic-R (EP3R) release date thread.
Could a mod make this sticky?
This thread will answer the question that's asked in a new thread every week, "Is the DC5R or EP3R coming to the U.S.?"
What everyone BUT Honda is saying...:
At this point, no one really knows for sure. Auto magazines, dealerships and websites of the like who speak of it say you can "expect" a release of these cars (esp. the EP3R) some time in the future. That is only because of the DC2R's success here.
I was told that the release of the DC2R was not for profit due to the small production # (which makes sense), while I also heard that it was released to boost Integra sales. (Which makes it appear as if there's a good chance for a DC5R to return.) Can anyone confirm which is true?
The real deal - what Honda says.
The truth is, either car will come for sure once Honda/Acura says so themselves. Neither company has even whispered "Type R" from their news. Thus makes what everyone else is saying about the matter is about as digestive as giving steak to a baby... with no teeth.
I would also like people to REALIZE that when it comes to the release of a new car, the maker WILL make an official announcement of it at least 5-6 months in advance. Think about it. Honda said they'd release their EP3 Si in December 2001 and it arrived in mid 2002. Acura said they would release their TSX. Subaru for their STi, Dodge for their SRT-4, Honda for their 6-speed Accord and many, many, many more. This is how we know a car is definitely coming as well as being given a diehard timeframe from the manufacturer on when the car will REALLY arrive.
No souce in the media has stated whether Honda or Acura will truly bring their R to the states at this point. Think of it like this... any form of the media can ALWAYS be helpful - providing you succeed in not taking what they say... too seriously.
Let Honda/Acura do the announcing. When everyone else who likes to spread news is ready to listen, you'll get your answer.
If you want to know when the Rs are coming, just go to Honda.com.
Not Honda-tech.com.
Hope this covers it.

Thanks, but I have common sense.
This thread is worthless for people with common sense.
For those who lack it, this thread will not help them b/c they will believe what they want to believe. "well this magazine said that." "well I know a guy who works for honda in the detailing dept at the dealership."
Don't know why a thread like this would get a sticky in a tech forum. It's a topic that deals directly with rumors and should be put in a forum according to that.
Anyhow, sorry if i'm a bit abrasive, just expressing my opinions. I know your intentions are good, but you're just cluttering up a tech forum with garbage that has a totally different audience.

And all of the stupid threads that pop up EVERY OTHER DAY about EP3-R and DC5-R coming to North America aren't already cluttering up a tech forum?
This guy's intention was to get rid of all those threads once and for all.
I personally think that this thread should be made a sticky, and then every new thread posted on the subject should be immediately locked. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a regular moderator for the DC5/EP3 forum . . .

I see your point. From what it looks like, this is a model specific forum listing information regarding the DC5/EP3. I understand this entire forum is all about tech stuff and how-to's but despite that this is the first place where people look for information regarding the release latests Rs or even the latest version of the RSX/EP3 (2004). Maybe this thread should be moved to General Discussions? I don't know. I also don't expect people to look in this thread especially if they're not interested.
I know some people have common sense - but this thread is to prevent stupidity... that is if anyone cares. Anyone can tell that person to search and the accused who started the thread will say they did, and what can someone do about it other than tell that one person to "search better"? Obviously that person can't tell the next person who makes the same mistake in the future.
In the end, I don't think this thread was made for the people who have common sense or good searching skills. I don't consider it "the great R watch" as I'm sure if either car does come out, someone else is going to make another thread about it. I could care less whether people decide to count down to the very day of the release date if it's ever announced or camp out in front of Acura like it's the next Star Wars movie. This thread just says one thing and only one thing to the people who don't know how to understand what the media tells everyone on the release of these cars so they can stop asking the same annoying question in a new thread every 1 to 2 weeks. It's to prevent this from being the same ol' discussion over and over.

That magazine, like any other magazine falls into the category of making guesses on whether it's coming or not. If you truly read the article, you'll notice they never really said when it's coming, they only told you when to expect it. It means nothing because their article is based on a rumor, too. Not some inside source from Honda. It's not true.
1 new thread prevented.
