Default What is needed to rechip ecus?

I was just curious as to how people rechip ecus, ive seen lots of guys offering ecu rechipping and was wondering how its done, seems like something id be interested in, not to sell but just to be able to hack into my ecu and have full control and hopefully not spend 1000 bucks for hondata.

Well I know that all those ECU chippers have to put a EPROM on the ECU board. And all you need to program EPROMs is a chip burner available from a place like Radio Shack for a couple hundred for a nice one. Then you have to get the program. Most places just copy other companies programs and then sell them like that. But to edit the programs you'd have to have some special software. I have no idea where you'd get that but I doubt that any ECU reprogrammer is going to give that to you. If your really good at programming maybe you could make your own.
