will primered fenders scratch easily?
I'm asking because I got new fenders for my car. They where white and I primered them black. I did it my self with just a cheap can of black primer spary paint. I'm getting the whole car painted, but not for a little while, I was just tired of seeing myold beat up fenders. Anyway, I've put a couple coats on them and they seem to scratch very easily. Is there any thing i can spray over it to stop this from happening?
Not sure on getting them to not scratch... but if you are going to be driving around with the car for a while before you get it painted, I would suggest actually painting the primer with some rustoleum, as bare primer will actually hold in moisture, and promote rust. A lot of the "rat rods" you see that are all "primer" are actually all flat gray, or black paint for that very reason.

does it matter that much if they scratch, except of course for the rust issue... they should be prepped and primed anyway when it goes into the shop for paint.
Why do you spray them black anyway? If they came to you white it sounds like they were already primered to begin with (i.e. not bare metal).

well, the car is going to look bad enough with multi-colored body parts. I don't want them to look all messed up. I'm not that into looks, but I don't like it to look like crap.
I pulled them off of a parts car, a white one. I just thought black wouldn't look as bad as white on a red car.
