Default How did you remove paint from OEM bumper?

I recently picked up an used OEM bumper for cheap! It has been repainted over the OEM paint and is chipping off. Ive been trying to remove the paint by chipping it off but its taking forever. Does anyone have experience using paint stripper on an OEM plastic bumper? Anyone with first hand experience?

Paint stripper and urethane do not mix, if the paint isnt sticking at all i would get a high power pressure washer and try to flake it off, if that doesnt work i would sand, but be careful because you might put waves in the bumper.

Yeah, I was thinking about sanding it but the paint is caked on super thick. I was just scared of actually sanding through to the bumper.

there are places that body shops send bumpers to that will fix cracked bumpers, strip the paint of and basicly they make the bumper as good as new. I heard they usualy charge about $70-$100 to restore the bumper back to new. This way you would have no scuff marks or indents or waves on your bumper. It would be basicaly new. They put it in a chemical bath and some thing with heat that makes sure the bumpers are straight and not warped. Its awesome. Body shops do this to save money over brand new factory bumpers. Good luck if you sand it. Id reccomned sanding but since its chipped its a PITA and not worht the time

I'm in the same predicament. I have a rear bumper for a crx where someone went a bit overboard with the white paint.

I'd also like to know of any tricks to help 'restore' it back to OEM.
