Little OT: What is the best / cheapest stereo for Integras, all the soundwork pros please read
Well well, my gf's birthday is coming and since she spend $200 on mine last month, it's rational that I must spend twice as much or I'll be spanked. So $400 is the budget here. Anymore than that, I would have to say buh bye to my Spoon 4-2-1....
I've already done a change on my 00' ITR, I had the DX3055 Polk Audio Component up front, Polk in the rear and with a cheap *** Alpine 80W subwoofer w/ 5 channel amp. It's a dramatic improvment over the paper oem speakers. With my good old Panasonic CD receiver, I had many good times where VTEC tone does not apply <ie. traffic n' mama and papa shipping...etc>.
With AutoX and to save weight&space in mind, the Alpine subwoofer in my trunk is pretty much a good choice, as I can take it off in a snap. The sound quality is...lots of power, but also a buzzing distortion.
My gf has a 2000 Teg GS. She also brought a Panasonic cd receiver -- the flashy silver ones with night lighting.
However, the sounding of her stereo is still horrible, with nasty bass tones and squeaky high notes.
So please, anyone, give me some suggestion of a set of front component and rear speaker setup.
There is no need of a subwoofer as I have no money to spend on amp, however, if anyone can work out with the price, ie. like adding a cheap, self-amped bazooka, please enlighten me.
The goal here is to improve mainly on sound quality: clarity and more bass.
I am thinking of Polk up front, Infinities at rear. Or all Infinities...for ease of purchase and installation at a Circuit City near me.
But Clutchfield and Ebay is also accessible
Please tell me the brand, model and sizing of the front and rear speakers.
Thanks Alot!

For myself I would probably do a complete speaker change out with Boston Acos. speakers and Nach. head unit with probably nice Rockford amp.
I like Kenwood or Pioneer head units if I wanted something cheaper. Now for speakers I would think the new infitity ref speakers sound great atleast ones I heard with the white colour speakers. Polk is also good and I've heard alot people like Panasonic speakers..good sound for cheap price.

Truthfully, for 400, if you go through cruchfield or a mainstream place like good guys or circuit city, it might not get you much.
Give http://www.autotoys.com, http://www.speedsound.com and http://www.mmxpress.com a shot, they have some good prices on stuff. You can probally go with some boston acoustics rally components, for about 175-200 or some CD technologies stuff at http://www.ampmanaudio.com which will be tons better than stock. Infinity Perfect Components are suppose to be really good too. Again about 200, maybe on Ebay? Retail on all of this stuff is 300 or so, maybe even 400, but these places can get it discounted for you.
As for the amp... hmm... you'll need at least 50 watts per channel, and for 200 dollars or so I'd suggest some of the Sony ES amps, perhaps Rockford and PPI. Sorry it's late and I'm dead tired, I can't think of any other stuff... if you have any questions, drop me an email

Hmm ok I'm not really into the whole audio thing, but this thread has me thinking. I'm not a huge fan of how the stock speakers sound, but if I could replace them with something a little better, that would be nice. What size speakers do our cars use? And when replacing them, is it a plug & play job, or a cut & splice job? TIA.
Up front are components 5 1/2" or 6 1/4"? and the rear is 6 1/2"
For price concern, I will go with the Infinity Reference set in my car, front and rear, it will cost me about 220, and with another 60 or so for the Circuit City technician, it will be around 300.
It's a cut and stuffing job.
Thanks for the site, it is 50 bucks cheaper than Crutchfield.

I think they are 5.25 in front and 6.5 in read.
You can fit 6.5's in the front by modifying the basket..

I'm pretty sure they are 6 1/2's up front too...I did the install on them myself, but the MB Quart's I used were too deep so I had to drill...same size speaker all around stock though, that's for sure.
