Those who did the RS door handle mod: How do you...
Before going ahead with the RS door handle cover mod, I went ahead and played with the door locks, and I found it quite difficult to lock the doors on my 98 ITR w/o using the door lock switch. I noticed that if you open the handle half-way on the driver's side, it is rather easy to unlock the door. But I found it rather hard to push the door lock to lock. I am able to force it to lock, but I feel like I am breaking something everytime I do that.
The passenger side is just a matter of pulling the lock tab out, but when you try to push it to lock, it simply reverts back to unlock. I've tried different angles with the door handle and trying to get it to stay locked, but no avail. It seems that the only way to lock the passenger door is to either use the key to lock it from the outside or to force the driver's side door lock to lock.
Are the 00-01 models different in that it actually allows you manually lock/unlock the doors with ease?
D - if you are reading this, have you solved your problem with the alarm not locking/unlocking your doors?

First in D's car, and then in mine, he wired up the moonroof switch for the lock-unlock, and it works like a charm. The problem he was having was that if the switch was wired to the passenger-side (which are easier to get to) it wouldn't unlock all the doors. After putting the switch inline of the drivers side wires, it's fine on both our cars. The alarm would lock the doors as it usually did no matter where the switch was wired, but unlocking all the doors at once was the point of the switch. Hope this helps, I'm sure he can elaborate on specifics when he checks again.
I just disconnected the switch and use my alarm to unlock the doors. Unlike what I was previously told, you do not have to keep the lock switch connected in order for the power locks to work.
I didn't really care to have another switch to open the door locks, as mine lock/unlock when the car is turned on/off...

take off the plastic piece that surrounds the door handle and I took off the piece that is the door lock switch itself (silver thing that everyone cuts off, etc..) It plugs into a harness right behind the panel.

anyway, i'm not sure what the hell you're talking about with manually using the lock nub (i'll call it that, dunno what else to call it.) if your driver door is open, and you will only be able to lock the nub by lifting the outside handle. with the door closed, pushing the nub locked should act just like power locking the car.
dunno if that helped or not. if anyone needs help with converting a sunroof switch to power lock switch. i can help.

Thanks guys. I stopped by Brunswick Acura in NJ and they said they had to order the handle covers. I'm assuming that it will be on backorder for quite some time. Any place where I can get it quicker?
D - I just want to confirm that this is the final wiring diagram or if you changed something
OEM Moonroof switch to Driver's side lock switch
A GRN/YEL - GRN/RED
B BLK - not used
C GRN/RED - GRN/WHT
D GRN - to chassis ground
Aside from contacting my local junk yards, where else can I start to look as far as obtaining the OEM moonroof switch and harness?
