Default Camshafts: Jun Vs. Skunk2

We have here problem. Engine is swaped in to 90 CRX [URL][http://www.xenon.lv/eng_galerija.shtml. /URL] and best 1/4 time 13,96 with Bridgestone potenza slics and 94 octane.
We would like to take next step, do some tuning with engine and can't decide what to chuse Jun or Skunk2 camshafts for Type-R B18 engine.
Need your advaice.
Thanks.

Well both will give you similar gains. Stage1 vs stage1, stg2 vs stg2 and so on. The skunks are a tad cheaper though so they get my vote.

i have Skunk2 Stage 3's in mine.. they work well across the board... however, when i did my resurch, and planed on buying, i looked at Jun, and Toda.. a friend of mine has them, and really, they dont' start making power till after 6K... yeah, on the track thats what you want.. but they dont' max power till like 9, 10? thats pretty high..

the skunks were well rounded... Toda, and Jun's, sounded like LS cams.. (secondaries just as loud as primarys) and waited forever to make power..

How did you do regulations to your cams, drive with stock ECU or some programed hardware?

i say get the toda cams (i like the Bs) since you're going to do some tuning. but if $$ is a factor then skunk would be good.

The toda's would take some very serious tunning to get them to idle correctly and they still wouldn't idle perfectly. Skunk's would so would the Jun

gude is the way to go don't let those other "big name" companies sell you crap.
they have a head package that is a 50 Hp bolt on. i don't care what the rest have they can't compete. "performance over fashion" learn that and it will save you alot of trouble.

GUDE, JUN, Skunk2, Toda... they'll all run differntly on the same exact engine.. however, Toda's specs, and Dyno charts, are prolly on a diff engine, size.. displacement, fuel.. timming.. alot of vairiables..

the thing to do, is find out say, what each cam did power wise, on the same exact engine.. say a GSR.. Skunk might make 13 HP, JUN, 15? Toda? 16? you never know..

the thing to do, is find out all the profile, and lobe size, and duration.. you like Toda? compare it to JUN? i think the Skunk2 stage 3 is compareable to the JUN3's.. look at the numbers.. they don't lie. however, yes.. names are expencive.. so if you found your numbers.. and had someone make it.. im sure it would be a fraction of the price.. JUN's are like 1200. thats some good cash.

a have a friend that has some of those ZEX cams in his B16.. they were stage 2, or street profile, instead of drag.. and well, they were like inbetween the Skunk2 stage 2 and 3's.. they were very streatable, and i belive he paid like 500 for both, intake and exh. oh of course valve train is needed.. but you already knew that.

thought you guys might also get a kick out of this..

those are Spec "C's".. look at any other cam, and see the VTEC lobe? its much longer than stock cams.. thats call duration.. but at higher RPMs, thats what you want.. and i mean over 6-7K.. and im sure the outers (primary's) are also.. very hard to tune to idle.. but produce nice power.. read your numbers.. compare.. if you wanted to, you could prolly have Gude, or Web cams, grind you that same replica, half the cost. Spec C's are running 1100 right now.

Gude are trash... As stated earlier in the thread, Rocket makes a pretty good argument for his EF-1 cams. Im going to give some of those a shot pretty soon

how are you making this asumption. have you had all three and compared them. and in what ways would the skunks be worse than the others. i'v tried many cams and found the skunks to be verry nice.

Don't you love it when people say things and don't back it up with facts. Jun's could break on you skunk's won't, Jun's make peak peak hp, skunks make more USABLE whp, and toda's are good for road racing. skunks are junk, if you don't have any proof then

Now here we instal to 5-gen H22A5 engine, Prelude full cam kit from Jun and AEM fuel managment system. This car not runing yet. But in closest weeks I hope it runs. Then we will see, Jun worth it or not.

What hapen with CRX we don't know. After 1 mile chalenge contest, engine lose power and starting to losing oil . So thats why now we searching for serious stuff.
