My car is getting terrible gas mileage. Recently I have only been able to drive a little over 200 miles on a full tank. Does anyone have any ideas as to maybe why this is starting to happen? I am sure there could be a hundred reasons why I might be having this problem, but I was wondering if there is a common problem that I might be experiencing. Thanks for your help.

Yes there are. You might start with normal tune-up stuff. How old are your spark plugs? Wires? Measure your spark timing lately? Dirty air filter?

How about dragging brakes? Does your handbrake stick so it doesn't release all the way?

check everything that he listed and then come back and tell us the results

Also put fuel injector cleaner in it, might help.

Any recomendations on the brand of fuel injector cleaner to use?

 

All the off-the-shelf ~5$ cleaners perform about the same. They are very mild compared to the 50-100$ stuff you can buy online or the services from places like jiffy lube that do direct fuel line injector cleaning.

 

makes sure you check your pcv valve..replacing it helped my gas mileage.
