anyone on here get their b16a tranny rebuilt?
like title states. I was wondering how much a rebuild of a JDM tranny might cost, and if USDM parts are used or JDM parts?
You can only use JDM parts for a B16A cable transmission rebuild. There are no US equivalents from a reliable source to date... although I've heard rumours that the synchros for the D16A6 transmission are identical and interchangeable.
I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, but search is your best (although boring) bet.
If you NEED parts, contact Culver at GT Fabrications.

Actually what I am really asking is:
can u use Hydro tranny gears and synchros in a cable tranny.
If you think about it and i was only able to use cable tranny parts then that would really only limit me to two trannys without paying an arm and a leg for JDM parts.
B17 tranny (what is the tranny code again? USDM Y1?)
or
b18a YS1
with the rarity of the b17 I would assume that the parts would be hard to find and expensive.
and I definately dont want to switch my gears out for b18a gears.
so are you able to use hydro snychros and gears or would I be better off buying a whole new tranny?

have you ever went to jdmshit.com they have some jdm y1's for sale they say the pricing starts at 395 and goes up but i dunno how reliable they are or in what condition they are in but some of the jdm y1's i think have lsd not for sure but its a start i guess
No, you can't use hydro parts... the sizes are different on the shafts between hydro and cable. I'm not a tranny guy but I know that much!
Contact mistabone and see if he'll tell you which parts to use for the JDM transmissions. There ARE USDM equivalents; I just don't know what they are, and they're not as simple as ordering parts for a USDM S1 (Integra LS cable) transmission (that won't work either).
And if you ever DO find out, post the info and you'll have guys thanking you left and right! SO MANY PEOPLE need rebuilds for their JDM cable transmissions (myself included) but can't get them!
