Default Won 1st place at Sac Raceway, but 15.5 @ 91mph... please help!!

i was at the track last week i ran 15.6@91mph, what is the problem with my car ?!?! iam really fraustrated, i saw other type R's there that just had intake and were doing 15.2 - 15.3, I have a LS Aem Cold Air Intake meaning the piping is a little smaller but i dont think thats a big diff, i have replica Mugen Jdm headers by SS-Autochrome with a Jdm cat, a full cat back tanabe racing madalion which was taken off a LS also, and i also have a Exedy Stage 3 cerametallic clutch, ON TOP OF THAT i got it serviced monday, last week when i posted people said take out your Silencer its not letting the engine breath freely and i did that no big results...

but the good thing was i won 1st place got a MUG, i won 1st place for my consistency,... what do you guys think the problem is?

If you're pulling the same 60' times, you're still not launching well. Keep practicing until you run 2.1-2.2 consistently.

What is the exhaust piping size since it is for an LS? That could be hurting you (or at least not helping over stock). That trap speed is pretty bad unless you are at a high elevation. Also get the proper intake size for your car. A B18C5 breaths alot more than a B18B and has a different intake size for a reason.

For the most part, aftermarket LS and ITR catback exhausts are the same size. Generally 60mm for Japanese companies and 2.25" for US companies.

So am I reading a 2.9 60' time? I suck at drag racing, and still pulled off successive 2.6's the one time I took my Hype R to The Rock.

Practice your launch. A lot.

I am not too great at launching, but I live right by sac raceway and got my stock R to do 14.7-14.8 there constantly. That is with a 2.4 60 ft. Yes I know I suck at launching. I believe the elevation is close to sea level.

Del, I didnt' catch what tires you were running. I am running S03's and found it pretty hard to get a good launch - at least when compared to the stocker re10s. My fastest that night was a .783 RT and a 2.37 60', if i tried to push it a lil harder -> wheel spin sigh.

S03's aren't the prime choice for drag racing, but they are really good tires. I don't go drag racing much, but with just 1 and 1/2 season of autox, the sides are pretty much gone. Can't wait to try em falkens.

with GSR tranny. where and HOW are you launching? My best results

With a 2.9 60 ft I think your car is just fine running that slow time.

Your LS intake surely doesn't help, that piping might be smaller than the stock intake arm.

I ran a 14.345 with a 2.2 60 FT with a ~4000 RPM launch on Azenis.

I see that your car is a 98. How many miles does it have on it? How old is the intake? Have you ever cleaned the intake filter? What type of gas were you using? Was your AC on? How much do you weigh?

I think his 2.9 60' is what is killing is ET's.

Wouldn't hurt to check wear items.

I ran 15.0 in my GSR with a 2.2 (I/H/E) at Sac Raceway.... It's not the track, it's your launch.
