Default Gathering Interest in CARBON FIBER TRUNK lid for 4th GEN's 92-96

I'm working with and gathering interest in development via FiberImages for a carbon fiber trunk lid for 4th gen preludes. Pricing and weight will follow. We need at least 10 people to do this. Respond here, or email me directly at h35nguye@ucsd.edu if you are seriously interested.

Here is an example of what It will look like, but of course will be FiberImages quality and fitment. Will be very lightweight and durable.

The one you see in the picture, made in canada sells for $750. (USD). The FiberImages one I'll be getting should be in the $450-$550 range... Maybe cheaper, but nothing is set in stone until we have more people and everything is arranged. I'll work on getting us the best prices, but first thing is first, and we need to have 10 buyers.

What would the weight savings be? Would the weight savings outweigh removing the spare tire or spending another $450 on your engine?

I never really got the "weight savings" argument, sure every little bit helps but for your average 'lude $450 for <u>xx</u> lbs is absurd. But hey, to each their own.

If your buying it for looks, disregard this post. Personally I think it would look good with a matching hood on 3 colors, black, white or silver.

It really depends on design but you're looking at maybe 10-15 pounds savings if it was FGbacked and you dropped a spoiler at the same time. Not a big deal really, mainly for looks

Actually... I was thinking of looking into the cf sunroof idea as well, although I do not know if the actual weight savings are worth it... Does anyone know?

Probably not much of a weight savings. I've never taken off the sunroof before, so I wouldn't know. But it would be nice to have a carbon fiber sunroof to match a carbon fiber hood.

Plus, it doesn't help when the dummies who sprayed my Prelude "forgot" to spray the SOLID sunroof. See for yourself. I'm still trying to get a hold of them. Long story....

make your own sunroof...pull the motor and everything, and bolt in some lexan and tint it..

If I only knew how to work w/carbon fiber, I would try and make one myself. It wouldn't be carbon kevlar though, has to match my FiberImages carbon fiber hood, which I am NOT too pleased with. The carbon fiber weaves are flawless, but the gel coating that they put on it has was too many air bubbles. I should post a pic of the hood so you guys can see for yourself.

Anyways, I need to get my sunroof painted to match my car. From a distance, it actually looks like tinted glass. If I'm around people who are not familiar with the Prelude, they will not notice it. What's also funny is that if I'm around fellow luders, they too will not notice it. Funny ain't it?
