vibrates in reverse(auto tranny)
1993 accord f22a begins to vibrate really bad when it's put into reverse, put it in drive and it goes away. only 40,000 miles, motor mounts look ok, any ideas?
The most likely cause of the vibration is from the front (radiator side) engine mount a.k.a strut. Replace that mount first cuz it's the cheapest and it's easy to replace. The rear mount is spendy little bastard. The mount has a vacume actuated fuid dampner inside of it. There is vacume solenoid mounted on the firewall just above the mount. Make sure that arm on the mount moves when the engine comes off of idle. It supposed to let fluid dampen the vibrations at idle and it basically stiffins up off idle. If the arm on the mount doesn't move, check vacume lines at the solenoid and the elec. connections. Please let me know if you hve any questions or comments regarding this post. laterz-jfastman
