Default Clutch Master/Slave Cylinder Problem?

Just recently on my 94 5-spd I noticed that every few presses of the clutch pedal, it grabs at a diffrent point in the pedal stroke, it will do that once or twice and then return to the normal spot that it grabs at. Is it that there could just be air in the line somehow...even though its fully sealed and ive never touched it....or is it time to put in a new clutch master cylinder and/or slave cylinder?...and if so, is there a way to tell which one crapped out so i dont replace both? Thanks...

take a look under your dash!

Look above the clutch pedal and you will see the master cylinder pushrod going into the master cylinder. If any fluid is leaking out it is time for replacement.

Also pull the dust boot back from the slave cylinder and inspect for any fluid leakage. It sounds like you may have a master cyl. problem to me. How often do you flush your clutch fluid? Do it once a year-more often if you l live in a humid climate. Brake/clutch fluid absorbs moisture easily. Id recommend you swap out both the master and slave at the same time. laterz-jfastman

This is some very good advice. You should ALWAYS replace them in pairs.

they bleed the exact same why that you would bleed a brake system would. shoot i had my girl in the drivers seat like okay honey push definitely felt the leg power as the clutch fluid came gushing out. Then i felt the pedal go down bled it again and then pulled the pedal back up and it was a rap.
