difference between rebased/non-rebased hid bulbs?
Our cars takes 9006 as low beam.
Philips 9006 HID bulbs are then rebased from standard bulbs, correct?
Are there any difference between a non-rebased 9006 hid bulb and a rebased 9006 hid bulb?

What do you mean "non-rebased hid bulb"? The rebased 9006 HID bulbs are usually modified from the standard-base Philips HID bulb. They basically take a 9006 "ring", and glue it to the base of the bulb to make it work. Regular halogen 9006 bulbs are just one big molded piece...no adapter ring. Nevertheless, the modified, rebased Philips HID bulbs are dependable. I've never had a problem with fitment...

There are HID bulbs out there w/ molded bases for different applications like 9006, H3, H4, 9007, etc. Misterjung sells HID bulbs w/ molded bases, but I have read that they are not very good quality.
No problems in 6+ months w/ my Phillips rebased D2S bulbs.
And a D2S bulb is what it is, all D2S bulbs look the same, and all D2S/D2R bulb bases look the same, unless it has been modified.

Stay away from glued bases!!!!
Injection molded all the way.
ANyhow to answer your question, there are "non-rebased" capsules. Those are just your standad D2S/D2R like factory HID.

Any experiences? Any suggestions as to bulb brand? I've had no problems w/ the glued base bulbs I got from Trevor at Visualdynamics. I also read that the molded-base bulbs from misterjung are not very good quality.
Also a non-rebased bulb would require an HID projector housing in order to fit and work.

Try Catz. You never see any threads listed as "HID PROBLEM or HID HELP" w/ Catz kits... none of that reverse polarity stuff... none of that flickering, fuse blowing, annoyances..

Catz is indeed excellent quality. The bulbs are not rebased, they are manufactured with 9006 bases right out of the factory. The quality is just as good if not better than the philips rebased bulbs.
Check out trevor from visualdynamics, the link is in my signature

Re-based = after market, connectors glued in

Non re-based = OEM, the bulb is completely separate & twist snaps into a bulb holder.
