Default Axles and Alternator

do I need to remove axle to replace my alternator?

is it easier to access from top or underneith?

If this is a stock car, then you can remove the alternator without pulling the axle by removing the splashguard cover on the driver's side in the wheelwell. If you have a B-series swap I can vouch for the fact that yes, you'll need to either pull your axle out of the intermediate shaft or remove your master cylinder (or bend it out of the way... but that's ghetto).

with B series its a ton easier to take out the MC then take it out. Because when yo put your MC back in you get to bleed your brakes and thats always helpfull.

Pull the axle, and the lower alternator mount, and it comes right out. 8 bolts. F bleeding and removing the MC, that's alot of time/fluid wasted.

On my ZC I had to take out the drive side axle and intermediate shaft.

forgot to mention is on DOHC ZC.


EF ZC you needed to drop the axle?
