Default 97-99 vs 00-01 ECU (GReddy Turbo Kit)

I've been reading recently about installation of the GReddy turbo kit. I see now that it's intended only for 97-99 and not 00 or 01, because of changes in the ECU (fuel mapping?).

I've seen a few people talk about aquiring a 97-99 ECU to be used on a 00-01 vehicle with the kit installed to prevent throwing codes.

Would there be any issues with a 97-99 vehicle running the 00 or 01 ECU?

In other words. Can a 97-99 owner and 00-01 swap ECUs without any problems?

It's not for me. A girl-friend of mine. She already has the kit.

So what's the answer to the question?

I am not positive it's fuel mapping. It's something I read yesterday while doing a search...

People were saying it throws code(s). But never listed which.

Yes, you can put a 97-99 ecu into a 00-01 lude, several people have done this to run the stock Greddy kit on a 00-01. Alternatively, you could say screw the "blue box" and run hondata or AEM EMS, or if you want to keep your stock ecu intact, run EFI PMS.

Unfortunately, I've never heard a straight answer as to what code(s) came up running the kit on a 00-01. There 's always the possibility that it could be made to work if one knew what the problem was.

This I know... I want to know if the opposite is true. Can the 00-01 ECU be run in the 97-99 ?

We're trying to keep the cost down.

Sure, you can run the 00-01 ecu in a 97-99. However, you won't be able to run the Greddy turbo kit if you do.

Hah. Obviously... But that's what I wanted to know. If there would be any other issues besides that.
