you should take that money and buy the manual (non-electric) locks for your doors so people can't break into it as easily (I've broken into an R in less than 30 sec with a coathanger, rag, and flat screwdriver without scratching the paint), then add comprehensive insurance to your insurance policy (which in US only costs ~$100 / year) With the alarm, if someone is going to break into your car they can smash the window, unlock the doors, pop the hood, and cut the siren wires. Then it's theirs for the taking

well, in that case- most alarm brains are designed with a mercury switch inside (and sometimes the shock sensor has this instead) where the alarm disables when the car is elevated to 35 degrees off horizontal (i.e. when a tow truck hooks up to it). this way the alarm isn't going off while it's being towed. once again- an alarm still wouldn't help you. The only thing you can really do here is buy full coverage insurance and hope for the best. if a thief wants something, he's going to get it. otherwise he'll just vandalize it
Yeah I think I should buy the insurance...anyway... the alarm is being installed today...
picking the car tomorrow afternoon...
thanks for your opinions guys !!!
really appreciate it.
