How does Radial Tire's prices compare to the online vendors?
If they are in the same ballpark I will definately support local vendors.

At the moment, tires.com shows "good" availability from their Ohio shipping facility. Out of stock at the other three. Their price is $51 each, free shipping.
What he said.
Do you have Discount tire stores near you? When I got mine last year from them, they only took 2-3 days to order them to the store. I talked em down on the price too. I hope the website is correct, because I really need at least two tires within 1k miles.
:Edit: He beat me to it.

$303 on the car and out the door.
By my math: $50/tire + shipping + getting raped for mounting and balancing tires you bought elsewhere + hassle of fitting four tires in a car that can't fit four bags of groceries > $303.

I think going forward, or untill something better can cheaper is made, need to order tires 2 months in advance of needing them. This happened last year in March/April when word started to spread like wildfire about these new tires. Now mid-season everyones looking for replacements.
So either buy off season, which I will a month after SCCA nationals to Jan 2003, or just plan on waiting 1-2 months for them.

By my math: $51/tire + $0 shipping + $40 mount and balance at the shop I go to = $244 < $303.
Works for me. Girlfriend's got an SUV, which isn't good for much but is good for carrying tires. Your mileage may vary.

Despite showing "good" availability in Ohio, tires.com just sent me a backorder notice on 195/60R14 Azenis.
Any other suggestions on where to get them? I called one local shop I've dealt with, but he couldn't (or wouldn't) confirm that they were actually available since he has to order them, too.

probably already sold them out and hadn't updated the website yet. i haven't received a notice that mine are on backorder, so it may have been i got lucky. i know a lot of resellers are hoarding the tires in hopes to jack the prices when the supply does run out, so what tires.com had in stock probably went damn quick. ah, when will the new compound reach our shores????

damn effin mfs stupid (&%^ jerks. so, i ordered my tires, but i don't get a order confirmation. no biggy, i call them up. turns out, they never had them. error on the website. they claim they don't even see an order coming in from me. nice. i just sent my credit card information off into world wide waste. a bit of advice for webmasters (and a little venting)
YOUR STUPID *** WEBSITE IS WORTHLESS TO ME AS A CONSUMER IF THE INFORMATION IS NOT ACCURATE AND UPDATED. WE ARE ALL HUMANS, BUT IF YOU FUGG UP, LET YOUR CUSTOMER KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
scott could write a better lament then i. i'll just have to stick to useless bitching in whining. actually, i should better use my time trying to find some tires else-where. or maybe a 6" wheel with a +45et.
nate-very freakin annoyed with this chit! send some tires across the pond already!!

I found several local places, including Sears and Tire Kingdom, that claimed to be able to get them (I'm looking for 195/60R14). I went with TK since they were a little cheaper. They're a special order which won't come in for a few days, so we'll see if I actually get them.
I also found a place in Cali (superbuytires if I recall) that said they had them in stock, but they were such a pain to deal with over the phone when it came time to pay that I decided to get 'em locally if possible.
It seem like the big places that everybody normally gets them from are out, but the smaller, less popular places still have 'em.
