Default DIY grill....how do I get rid of the chrome?

I found a few DIY CTR grill posts and I'm going to try it on my grill. My question is, will the chrome piece come off as well, or is it part of the actual grill? I hope it comes off, its nasty. Here's a pic for clarity.

Its probaly part of the grill, hopefully is that plastic crome coating and you just sand it and repaint it. But if that doesnt work, I know you want to DIY, but you might need to buy a new one. Just get a copy or something like that.

It will actually screw off of the grille. You can get a new one from a junkyard or somewhere to match the color of your car!

your grill is a 3 piece grill, the black part, the H, and the crome part. just take of the grill and on the back you'll see the screws for the crome trim take it off and go get the trim that is the same color of your car

You can get the chrome off with this thing called Goof Off. It's a really rough cleaning substance and will rub the chrome right off of plastic. Then, you can paint it.

This kind of got put on the back burner, I still haven't done it yet.

There is a parts store near me that will color match paint to your car and put it in a spray can for relatively cheap. So I think that's what I'm gonna do.
