Default thinkin about LS in my hatch....

i am thinking about swapping a LS in my 97hatch. i want to go with a b16 tranny but i think i might get an LS tranny to tide me over. what kinda time slips ,in the 1/8th, would i be looking at if i ran an LS with an LS tranny and I/H/E?(and of course a LS ECU) would a b16 tranny make a huge difference? thanks

in my opinion, the ls without the vtec head swap, goes great with the ls tranny.
everyone talks about it being stupid long... but its really not. its even less noticable when you have to shift at under 7000

I think you can pull between 15.2-15.5 in an ek with an ls. I think the b16 tranny doesn't make much of a difference unless you can get a good price on it. I pulled a 14.9 in my 94 cx not that good, but I've seen better. Depends on the driver and how good the engine is. I say save some more money and crvtec swap or prelude, you're going to need a little more torque to move that heavier ek. Thats just my opinion. Good luck!

so you think if i could get and LS for 400 or a CRV for 700, i should go for a CRV and wait the little while longer?

and anyone know of a hydro LS tranny for sale?

Yep, just save and get the crv, you'll have alot more torque. check the junkyards around your area, or go to the classifieds, partstrader hondamotorsonline.

if you're not going fi with the new engine, definitely wait for a crv.

At least it's super easy!

I would go 2nd generation B16A, much more power, almost same price.

= b16a2 motor. its much more money than a ls swap. if u shop around say getting everything peice by peice for a b20 or b18b u can get everything for around maybe 1200-1400 depending. b16a2's aruond here where i live at least are like 2 grand at the least. and i have seen b18bs pull the same times maybe even better than that of the b16a2's

why would you pay 2-2.5K for a b16a2? that is so idiotic.
buy a b16a for 1400 and buy the eg-ek cable tranny conversion 250
dont pay 1000 more for a different imprint on the block

it's not just an imprint. b16a1=obd0 b16a2=obd2, for some people that's important to pass emissions with. also, the newer the motor the less mileage obviously, which means less money spent on replacing crap on the engine.

newer motor means less mileage?
not on b16a
since its a jdm motor it will have less then 35K on is because its illigal to have them past 30 in jap.

i bet the b16a2 has either the same or more.
oh and obd2
wow go buy a harness

i know the harness is different between the obd's, i never said anything about that. i was talking about the engines. it costs $ to convert from obd0 to obd2.

yes i am well aware of the difference in displacment. thanks for pointing that out. i was wondering if it was worth the extra dough for a tad more tourque. by the way the CRV stock numbers are that impressive compared to the LS stock numbers. that is why i was asking. if there was some sort of special reason to get the CRV....

my friend just swapped his dx coupe to ls going for fi. He has 9:1 compression pistons and a/c and i thought it felt fast when i was it in it. he hasnt ran it yet he waiting untill its turboed. i also have a dx and want to do the ls swap now but the times that your talk about seem slow for the money its gonna cost. (spoonfedhatch)s time sounds about what i was thinking of.

ok thank you. this is kinda the answer i was waiting for. someone is pleased with an LS and it only costed him about 1300 complete. thank you. i believe i will start my search for a good inexpensive LS long block and LS tranny. thank you spoonfedhatch.

ps: did you decide to stay with your EG and not sell it?
