Hey guys, I'm rebuilding my manual steering rack in 88 crx hf. I have all the parts, bushing, bearing, dust cover ect..

I searched through tons of old threads but didn't come accros this particular problem, here it is.

The problem is I cannot get the pinion out of the rack. Per the manual it says to pull it out, but trust me this thing is not pulling out. Myself and a friend tried messing with it for some time and could not get it out.

I have the snap ring out so that isn't the problem. Is there any tips or special tricks on how to remove the pinion??

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

well i personally would leave a job like that to the pros because of spec's and wheel alinment issuse.

BTW I would love to swap over a 90-91 Civic EX power steering unit on to my 90si.

pat, try cross posting in the tech forum. this probably isn't a EF specific question as i bet most honda racks are the same (for your situation).

 

I treid to no availe. Homeskillet came up with one old thread but I didn't see what I needed there. I figured someone had done it in here, but oh well.

Looks like I'll be doing a lot of swaering at the garage tomorrow .

Either way look for a write up on it........ if I ever finish
