What does an instant 33 hp feel like? Fantastic...
I just got my car back with its new (used) engine. It's an 88 Civic street legal road race car. It was still on its original 1.5 liter 92 hp engine (car has under 100k miles). I was running in EMRA's ST4 (finishing in the top half) class and locally in the under 2.8 class (finishing last). I made a deal with a buddy of mine whereby he "rents" the car for several Solo 1 events and in exchange he pays for the swap.
Anyway, I now have a D16Z6 and OBD1 electronics (don't ask any swap questions, I paid a guy to do all the work for me as I have no garage and few skills). I picked up the car tonight and drove it around a bit. The change in low end torque is substantial, but not as much as the change in high end torque. The car feels like it did with the old engine with one gear difference. It pulls in 4th like it used to pull in 3rd. Awesome. Before, one could say the car has pep (it was 0-60 in 8.5 at 2000 pounds) but now, it truly accelerates. It feels like a stock GSR or late 90's Si. I have my first track event with the new engine on Sunday (Solo 1) and I can't wait to see the differences in lap times. I can't beleive I was unwilling to spend this 1000$CAD earlier, as the car is simply transformed. It's like night and day! I don't really have a point here, I'm just thrilled with my new engine. That is all.

A Z6 versus a B2 is like night and day... I went from a 16.1 with a D16A6 to a 15.2 with an OBD-I converted Y8.... those are fun engines!
Whoops, thought I was in tech. Maybe I shouldn't post drag racing comments here

i just recently swapped out my z6 for a b18c1, and i tell you what. i give lots of credit to that sohc vtec. my car is a lot faster now, but that engine had lots of potential. slap on an apexi turbo kit and have more whp than a c1 with bolt on's

It's so NICE to go up hills without downshifting anymore.
