Default greasing the shift linkages

what do you use to grease the linkages? And do you just grease from the bottom of the car or inside as well?

On what car?

Most, the only place you would need to is the ball on the shifter and the bushing area where the shifter attaches to the long rod. Use white lithium grease.

on a 94 DX. There is a clicking noise when I shift. The car has many miles on it so I thought it's time to lube it. My friend's manual doesn't make noise.

To grease the ball joint on the shifter, you have to get under the car, disconnect it from the arm and pull the shifter out of the car. There is a plastic bushing between the mounting plate and the ball of the shifter....pull the shifter out of the bushing, clean it up, put in new grease and reassemble. If its all stock, you might have to put in new rubber bushings between the shifter and arm.
