Turbo Help (Blown Motor)
Hey Guys, I'm pretty new to the list, but I have a really large problem. Running a JRSC 5th Gen Lude on stock internals, my motor blew last friday. There is a large hole in the front of the block, right behind the connection for the Kamikaze Headers. The motor is toast I know, but I'm going to go off the deep end with the car now.
I plan on going with a custom turbo set-up and a fully built motor and selling the JRSC and associated parts. Are there any sponsors on this list that sell these parts, or places I could get these parts for decent to good prices? Also I was wondering if anyone good give me comments on whether these plans are good or bad:
1. It's a 2000 Prelude and I'm planning on buying a 92-95 H22 Longblock from Hmotorsonline.com I was told that this comes closed deck and is OBD1. I plan on going AEM EMS, so I'm not too worried about the computer problem, but is this longblock going to work good on the car?
2. Does anyone know of a good AEM EMS tuner in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas? I know this is hard to tune right, unless there is a really good tuner that understands the computer. I wouldn't even mind driving within 200 miles to get to a good tuner.
3. What turbo setup is going to put out good numbers? I was thinking T3/T4 would be the best. FMAX manifold, Type S BOV, Intercooler (what kind) ??, and custom piping. If anything doesn't sound right, let me know.
4. I plan on going with the motor sleeved (probably Darton, but open to ideas), JE pistons 9.0:1 CR, and Eagle rods while using the stock crank. Does this sound like a good idea? What kind of numbers can I expect with this?
5. What should I do about fuel? AEM fuel rail and RC injectors?
6. Is building up the head going to get me a noticeable increase in power?
7. Anything else of importance is more than appreciated. Thank You all very much.

is your budget limited at all? if not i would get a full-race instead of the f-max exhaust manifold for one. What kind of number are you looking to put down with your car? as far as sponsor I think you can contact AEM, but you have to stick to there brand obviosuly. no really sure how that works but like I said just send them an email or give them a call to find out for sure.
Firedrake: 12 hours is just a wee bit too far for me to drive
sorry. I do have someone I trust very much to do all the work, it's just the tuning that I'm worried about.
LJR: Limited, yes. I don't want to spend over $800 for just a manifold, because there are lots of other expenses to deal with in the buildup. I don't know what to expect with everything I'm putting into the car. over 300whp is what I'm aiming for, but I don't know if it's possible with what I'm investing into the motor.

Guys, I really hope you are joking about Alamo Autosports. I would never trust them with my car. They sold a friend of mine a Greddy turbo kit for his 2001 prelude (designed only for the 97-00) did a hack job of installing it. Not to mention that they also did an install of an F-Max kit on another one of my friends Prelude, which was also quite messed up.
Both cars were taken to Jotech where they were fixed (after several attempts to get Alamo to fix their mistakes). As far as I know, Jotech is the best place to have work done on the car (shop wise) but I have someone personal doing the work (which I trust more than Jotech).
The only problem with Jotech is that I don't think they are able to tune the AEM EMS very well. They do have experience or luck with the Motec though.

jotech is the company that i recommend the most if you do run hondata, they were who i was trying to think of originally, but i resorted to hondata's list of tuners/dealers. i had no clue alamo sucked, dont hold that against me.
No, I appreciate the help, I just thought I should try and warn EVERYONE against Alamo before they get screwed by them. I know of a few people suing them, but that's a different story.
I got a price on Darton sleeves, 1700 installed, then I got a price on Golden Eagle, 850 installed, gaurenteed not to break at 40 lbs of boost. Can you guess where my block is getting shipped monday??
