usually dyno's have a correction for temperature.

i believe 10 degrees Fahrenheit is about 1 HP. not much difference really.

judging by the 1% rule..i should make 5 more whp and if i had just changed my oil, (my oil is black 3k miles...i kno, time to change it). i think i might have gained another 2 whp...so i lost a total of 7 whp due to dirty oil and hot temp?? that would bring my peak whp to 174 sae...which i would be happy with. I seriously doubt dirty oil will adversely affect Hp to a significant degree.

How do you know the dyno you were on is accurate? Don't worry about the peak number, or even the number for that matter. Basically, you want to obtain gains from where you started from. That is what a dyno is good for.

Why is everybody so concerned with a high peak Hp number? If you have two DOHC VTEC B-series motors making the same peak Hp but the one motor has more area under the Hp and torque curves that motor will out accelerate the other motor any day(provided all vehicle conditions being equal [i.e. weight, traction, etc.])

A good example of this is a LS/VTEC setup and a regular B18C1/B18C5 block with the same peak Hp numbers. The LS/VTEC setup will have (in almost all cases) more area under both of the curves and will run stronger.

I have seen differences in between two dyno runs on the same car back to back without making any changes.

Weather conditions can drastically affect your motor's performance.
Ever notice how in the morning when its cool your car runs better???
