OT: Focus - An ITR Killer
Thought I'd share this. Boy, is this car ugly. And, I'll never own a ford.

That reminds me of a saying, "You can't polish a turd!"...
Last time at the drags I saw a kid driving his stock Focus, and he seemed thrilled to be getting in the mid 17's!

Wow, so much hostility. Haven't any of you guys heard of the Ford Escort Cosworth over in Eurpoe? Well this is along the same lines. The Focus is a staple of International Rally competition. I wouldn't mind haivng a Cosworth in my garage, that's for sure. This is probably an updated version 'Cosworth' treatment for the Focus. They could tone down the body a bit, I suppose.
Acura may have to re-think it's 'fastest production FWD car' slogan for the RSX-TypeR and change it to 'fastest NA production FWD car'.

It looks like the Renault Clio Sport. And it will never ever come here. The fastest thing Ford will give us is the SVT Focus with 170ho and no turbo
Stop being so bias, its good to have competition it brings out the true leader. The car doesnt look that ugly. Its better than the new 2002 Civic Si Hatchback, that thing is hideous...especially with that rally style shifter.
If they took out the Honda emblems and put on Ford, you guys would say the same thing. If they put H instead of Ford on that Focus and said it was the new Civic Si, you all would be drooling....so relax...

Wow! And after I think about it, you're right!
You have to respect a company that has an in-house performance sector, ie - SVT. And they are doing some great marketing to try and capture some of the import market. I hear the Saturn boys crying all the time about how GM needs to up the ante on a performance Saturn. IMO, Ford sees the strength and potential ($$) of the sport compact cars and are doing something about it. Unlike GM, who has their heads up their ***.

Do es the US have the strictest emissions and safety standards? Is that why we don't see a lot of the cool cars from Europe and Japan? Or is the performance/enthusiast market out here not as prevelant as in Europe and Japan?

How the heck would a 5.7L Camaro or 8.0L Viper have cleaner emission than an Evolution??
How the heck would a Prowler (freaking open wheel) be safer in a crash than a Skyline??
It's all because of the US economic deficit and politics.
I don't think this car would do well unless it was priced competitively. If it was in the mid-upper $20k price range, they got something going.
300HP...this thing would eat lots of cars for breakfast.
I just read there that they might bring a 4x4 version of this focus...bearing the Cosworth name. Holy sh*t...
They just need to make the wing a little smaller.

I like the wing and the 300hp. Everything else is just plain old Ford POS including the concept behind this car. Ford should stop messing with the Focus and worry more about about getting its flagship Mustang right. You make one right then the rest will follow.
on the 300hp Focus.
