JDM 4-1 Header install questions - what is needed?
(i have a GSR, but i figured you guys here know more about this header. also, i already searched and couldnt find the answers i was looking for)
i recently got my jdm 4-1 header, and today i just bought a 2.5" carsound cat from mike at IPS (should be here next week). now my question is, what all do i need for this install? the header didn't come with anything (no gaskets or anything like that). will the cat come with the gaskets that i need? also, while searching i read about some stuff about the bracket the header bolts on to.. will this header bolt up to the bracket (i didnt get any special bracket with the header..)? or do i even need to use the bracket with this header if it doenst fit? anything else you can suggest? im not too worried about the install, i just want to be sure i have everything i need, thats why i want to know about the gaskets and brackets and such.

It is suggested that your replace the exhaust manifold gasket with a newer one.
The bolts on your stock cat are going to be a bitch to remove. Get some liquid wrench on there and it'll be easy.
You don't need to use a header bracket.

i did a search and read about someone here installing a toda header, and they said that you dont need to use the bracket for that. but isnt the JDM ITR header heavier? are you sure you dont need to use the bracket on it?
okay, couple more questions to clarify:
1) what are these longer bolts used, or required, for? what did everyone use, or what do i buy (and from where)?
2) what is the part number for the exhaust manifold gasket?
3) what is a good place to buy this and the s2k collector gasket from?
4) it is infact safe to not use the header bracket for the new header, correct?

1) Whichever bolts have the springs on them. Collector-to-cat, I guess.
2) How many miles on your car? Below 30k-ish, I would not bother replacing it.
3) Manifold gasket = dealer. Donut = read the link I posted

what about the gasket on the backside of the cat? the little metal cockring... i assume the one for the stock cat doesnt fit?

The cat to b-pipe connection? JDM 4-1 needs an 2.5" in/out cat, which won't mate to the stock b-pipe anyway. I drove mine open-header to a muffler shop and had that welded to fit. I think Dave (SMSP) sells a full bolt-up solution, but I'm not sure.

hmmm
how about my problem ?
thinking of getting new toda header and used USDM mugen exhuast, what kinda cat do i need ? since toda is 2.5 and mugen just same as stock ! and does toda header come with bolts ? or i have to get them ?

Yep... that one... the metal ring (not donut)

The muffler shop I went to provided that piece. He cut the stock b-pipe and welded an adapter in place to remove the restriction. Again, Dave @ SMS sells a nice piece to take care of this problem.
If you have a 2.5" b-pipe, gaskets should be easy to find, unlike a (cheap) gasket that fits the collector-cat connection.

I have an Apexi N1 exhaust. Will the 2.5 outlet of the cat bolt up to it? Do I use the S2000 gasket from the cat outlet to exhaust inlet also or just get any that they have at the muffler shop.

It will bolt to the exhaust assuming you bought the right custom length cat.
Here is how this works
Header -> S2000 Donut Gasket -> Cat -> Autozone 2.5" 3 hole gasket -> B-pipe (Exhaust)
(Longer bolts and washers for springs)

Bolts R Us
Any Lowe's Depot type store will have what you need. Take an old one with you, and just get one a couple inches longer.

It is used because the stock one is 2.25" and the JDM header is 2.5" just like the S2k.
