Default Turbo with stock exhaust

I just recently got a good deal on a greddy turbo kit. Since I bought it i have been strapped for money. I planned on installing it and running with the stock exhaust. I know that I will not be running my maximum potential, but will it be detrimental to my car in anyway? It is a d16. Thanks in advance

there will be no problems at all in using ur stock exhaust system, but as you mentioned, your turbo will not be running at its full potential. a larger exhaust system will allow for the turbo to spin harder and allow gas to flow more freely. you also will be able to run higher boost levels more safely too. save the extra $$$ for a good stainless steel 2.5" system, but 3" will be more desireable!

cheers...

just run open down pipe, atleast you can hear the good sounds of the turbo spooling.

when i was turbo, i used the stock exhaust for a bit after removing my aftermarket one (this was when i decided to return to NA). low-end was fine, but as the RPMs climbed, the engine felt strained way too much compared to when the kit was mated with the aftermarket exhaust.

so the crazy amount of back pressure that is going to build up isn't going to negatively affect anything (engine, internals, etc.) just the high end? If that is the case then i can live with that for a few months until i get my exhaust. thanks

no, it won't affect your engine but just how much hp/tq the engine can produce as well as how fast the turbo will spool up. other than that, you'll be fine.

not really though. my open dp sohc was quieter than my friends old full exhaust w/ catalytic converter B16 crx. and thats with a 2.5" downpipe not the pencil sized 2" downpipe included with greddy kits.

There is some guy on superhonda who had a stock greddy kit @6psi with no exhaust, it's not a big deal he ran like that for like 5 months

im sure in under 5 months u can get the cash for a nice custom exhaust with a nice Muffler

2.5 Inch with a N1 Muffler is your best bet

My cheap-*** homeboy went to a muffler shop and they fabricated some 2.25 in. piping for him for only $100, That $100 also included a glasspack muffler and installation For the meantime you could try that.
Just a suggestion.
