installing cams - separating/conecting cam gears]
any tips? i have ctr cams to be installed soon and i dont have air tools to work with to take off the bolt that holds connects the cams with the cam gear. how do you guys do it? how about tightening it back up?
if you really dun have the tools to do it.... you'll have to do it the "right" way....which is still kinda ghetto.
You can stick a punch into the cam if they are still in the head. There are two holes onto of the drip bars. You have to rotate the cam till the holes line up and then stick a punch in there to prevent it from turning and then break the camgear off with a breaker bar.
If you have no punch, ..stick a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth inside the gear and also use a breaker bar to take it off.

even if i do have the right tools, lets say an impact gun to loosen and tighten the bolts, how would i go about securing the cams so it wont move? just use the method that you mentioned?

don't ever use an impact gun to tighten cam gear bolts, only screw in hand tight then when you line up timing belt and tighten tensioner then you tighten with a torque wrench. Loosen the opposite way, if it still spins then lock the crank. If stock cams, utilize the locking hole on the camshafts by putting a small round screwdriver thru oil rail and cam hole ... or just hold crank pulley bolt, or stick prybar and lock flywheel teeth, etc.

And torque the cam gear bolts to 41 ft-lbs. If you don't have a torque wrench, borrow or buy one.
