oil over filled
I was changing my oil on my 99 ex sedan when my neighbor started talking to me. i overfilled the oil by a lot. so i drained some out to try to get it back to normal. i wound up being over by what seems like a few ounces. Is this okay? will it f*ck up my engine?
fe519: whoa whoa whoa... a quart or 2 is not a tad over... that wil not be good for your motor.
like a 1/2 a quart most I would say over is ok... after that the crank will hit the oil in the pan and whip it until it will finally causes you to blow some seals and start burning oil.
drain the extra... it sucks but needs to be done.

yes very true! i did this with my D16a6 and at 5th gear on 50% WOT it would smoke. I filled it.. I think 1quart over.
if your unsure about how much oil you did put in just drain it out and refill it. It's cheap insurance and can save you lots of money down the road, especailly on your new car.

How do you know? How far over is it on the dipstick? Something like 1 or 2 mm over on the dipstick shouldn't be a problem.

I've filled mine 3mm over, & it was OK.
I guess the first thing is the oil gets whipped up in a foam by the crankshaft. So if you check your dipstick immediately after turning off your engine, you'll see the oil is all foamy?? I'm not sure if you'll see that, or if that's good enough to say its OK.
