Default headers for 97 hx

hey my girl has a '97 civic hx and we're doing a **** load of work to it to get it ready for H.I.N. here in seattle. we're looking for headers for her car but im not sure which ones will fit here model. the motor is a d16y5 with the retarded *** cat right at the headers. i know most headers for d-series motors fit each other but i've never messed with one that has the 2 cats. thanks any help will be appreciated.

HMMM You could use any header for an EX same motor except she has Vtec-E. So you could use those and run a catco cat. be cause youll need to relocate cat and might need to get new exhaust work.

An ex header will work, but you'll have to get a cat if not you'll engine check light will come on.

Hmmm.... Why did you even come in this post to flame, the guy asked a question which you didnt even answer.

Dont think you're smart because you know a civic has a header instead of headerS, I'm pretty sure there is tons of people in this board that have more knowledge than you that still type and say headerS...

...Next time try helping instead of flaming....

Ya, get an aftermarket cat if you get new headers. Right now, you probably have a 1 7/8" pipe from the cat to the catback system, which is where the cat should be anyway. The check engine light may get pissed at you though. Might want to also pick up an ecu from a ex or soemthing. I pretty sure that will work.

I thought the EX ecu wont work. becasue the valvetrains are different. The HX has Vtec-e which engages t like 35k where as EX engaes at 55k. Plus doesnt the HX have roller rockers and also only 2 lobes where as the EX has 3 lobes on the cam?

The ECU wont get pissed if you run an aftermarket cat and extend the o2 sensor.

Just get teh Header from an EX(D16Y8) and then mount it get a Aftermarket cat, then get new exhaust.

If you really wanted to be creative instead of dooing cat and header. just go to http://www.homemadeturbo.com read up on how to make power from your d16Y5 but I would recomend a head change then get an EX ecu then boost it.

Do you know if the ex and hx computers are compatible? I know the HX it very **** about the data from the o2 sensors so it would make sense to also switch those out as well if its possible.
