Turbo reliable in winter??
i dunno how it would do in a real winter like you guys get, but it worked just fine, no problems at all in an austin winter(40-50's). heated the engine up good n quick so the heater got to work even faster!
honestly though, it would be best to ask the foced induction guys. they are the ones that you know will have the experience with it. this is a hit or miss question in this forum.

reliable as in which way?
will some crap get into the spool up you mean? or to much cold air for you?

it would be fine if you run a filter over your turbo, i mean what does the colder weather have to do with it? unless its snow and rain, i dunno what im talking about
i would love to know also

you run the risk of leaning out your a/f too much in cold weather.
my motor ran so rich that it absolutely loved cold weather, though, because i guess it made the a/f perfect----insane spool up, awesome power, and a fun ride! god how i hated summers.

All i really meant was, when I get turbo, i will get it all running in a-1 condition by my mechanic. So when winter rolls around, i want it still running in a-1 condition, as I dont have excess funds or time for it to need repairs.
thanx fpr the replys, keep em comin

I personally think boosting in cold weather is the best. Summer heat will make your turbo car feel sluggish compare to the colder weather. Plus...you're up there in canada...your summer shouldnt be too hot.
Go ahead...boost it already.

Colder the better. that's even for an N/A car. The ambient temp is alot lower in the winter. You just need to get it tuned around that time. Detnation would be your problem. May lean it out a little. I think it's wise to get it tuned for the winter weather, well here int exas it's summer all year long
Very true, my winters here in Niagara Falls are usually between 30 and 38 degrees farenheit. They are very humid for sure. Our women are great, yes. lol
Getting it tuned again for winter sounds like the way to go. Once again thank you all for your knowledge. Have a cold, 5% alcohol, full bodied canadian beer on the house
....or make it 6

your intake charge from your intercooler is going to be a lot cooler thats for sure. you might want to let your car warm up a little longer.
the only thing bad that can happen is you loose controll and run in to a wall
or a little rust on your down pipe and a salty egine bay, other than that nothing. i just moved from chicago and the winters there suck!!!! i had no problems.
