i hope it's not some silly r-specific event. i say we invite all the rice boys to the track so they can come out and learn to drive. once they break off their silly body kits and can't accelerate due to their 19" wheels, maybe they'll realize what their honda was meant for.

Sorry guys its an R Speed Event which is an ITR only club So I am pretty sure its ITR only, I may be able to get a few Non ITR's in though
I race at Lime Rock through PDA and it's a great track. I might be intrested being on the track with all itr's... It's usually me and a bunch of M3's and C5's.... It takes me 1 min 2 secs to get around that track in my G2 teg...Track is awsome...
Hmm....yeah, but I don't think we can pass each other right? Is it just like a tour kind of thing that you pay $10 for one lap?
And....wouldn't Pocono be cheaper? Or is it too far for ppl from Con.?

grrrrrrrranyway, called up and was told they have nothing available for this year!
i also called Watkins Glen. they have Oct 1st - 4th (monday-thursday) available, or Oct 15th - 19th (monday-friday). these are weekdays. the price is $6000 for the day. this includes corner workers, emergency crew, etc.
not too bad if we can get over 20 cars.
personaly, i don't think there would be anything wrong with non type R's coming along. the more the merrier.
let me know on this thread or through email what you think of these dates and prices. or if you find something better. i know october is far away, but this is short notice. Limerock said they don't have anything available next year either.

edit: we could go to Limerock with the PDA, Sep 8th (Sat) $150 for PDA members $200 (i think) for non-members. we definately won't have the track to ourselves, but it's still fun.

Someone should post some R-Speed information. Website Address?
Also...... where is Limerock? I want to look it up on a map.

i would come on a weekday! i work weekends so a weekday is perfect. i imagine it would fit in most people's schedules to get a 2-3 break midweek; use those last few vacation days for the year.
i vote to include all hondas, we can all learn something; besides, rice boys aren't going to come anyway.

Hiya,
This is david, "event chairman" of R-speed (actually all members plan events, I just try to keep things organized). The track event is a good idea. I am actually doing the long course with PDA at Pocono August 10. I think since we never planned an event like this, asking information from a club like PDA, WSCC, PCA, BMWCCA, ITRexpo etc. about how they go about planning track days is a good start. I will call PDA and maybe this year or next they can have a "Honda-Acura" track day put on their schedule.
The "rice-boy" comments are not exactly positive statements. But, the cost of the track day ($150-$300) may keep some people away. Also, you have to bring your own helmet (most of the time motorcycle helmets are not allowed). And the idea of wrecking your car will keep some people away. Look at ITREXPO, they recently opened the event to ALL people.
For most R-speed events, they will only allow ITR's and our close friends (B18c5rodney, etc. etc.). Why? Logistics? We cannot handle 50+ cars at events, so the only way to keep it small and have fun is limitations. I HIGHLY encourage drivers of other honda/acura cars to form organized groups and clubs.
Enough ranting, lets make this track day a positive, safe, and great event where we can explore the limits of our cars in the proper environment. Lets take our time and plan it correctly. (sounds like I'm running for mayor !) Later.

oh yeah,
if The Glen caters the event for us we get $500 off the rental price. (which i'm sure they make up for in the catering price)
so should we go for the PDA school and The Glen?

I think the PDA school is best for a start. They will hopefully have some instructors and they are already organized. Once we have at least one track day under our belts, we can start our own track days.
I have been racing with PDA for 5 years... Joe Casella is the person who you want to talk to over at IMP... The long course is crazy fast... I have gone 150 in my teg..A stock R on the back stright can easily hit 140... There are 2 days for the long course. I will be there for both days... Here is the link to PDA: http://www.imp-auto.com/pda/index.html
See you all there (in my rear view mirror!)
